The Williams College Ephmen demolished the Amherst College Lord Jeffs 20-0 on November 10 on Weston Field. It was the 122nd game in the longest-running rivalry in Division III, a series which Williams leads by a wide margin. Local Williams alumni watched the game on New England Sports Network at Wrigley Field Bar & Grill. For the first year ever, ESPN College Game Day was broadcast from a Div. III college - the commentators (Lee Corso et al) were seated behind a desk with Weston Field and the surrounding Berkshire Hills providing a lovely backdrop.
I played on the undefeated 1967 Williams football team - at that time the first undefeated Williams team in nearly a century. Since then Williams has gone undefeated several times. My roommate,Williams tailback Jack Maitland, scored the winning TD in the final seconds of the game on that cold and very wet November day back in 1967. Jack was interviewed by the ESPN broadcast team during the Game Day show last Saturday.

You played football as well as basketball? Like, Wow! New England is great. I was born in Boston. I want to take my husband & kids there sometime soon to show them all of the historic sites.
Wow! My interest in sports dips down into the negative range, but weaving the awesome story into the sports story made it a really good one-- even to me!
